About Me

If you're wondering who the person is writing this site, you've clicked on the right section.
Currently, I am a sophomore at Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York. I was born south of Boston and now live in the Jacksonville area when I'm not in New York studying. I'm studying Print Journalism as my major and Political Science as my minor.
If that's the case, what gives me the right to write about music? Well, I simply love it. I have been an avid fan of The Beatles since birth. My mother and her brothers are big Beatles fans, from the first time they saw them on the Ed Sullivan shows in 1964. (Of course, my mom was much younger than her brothers, so it's really them that have sort of driven them into my brain.)
I have no musical training, but I have listened to music all my life....so, I think I can point out when a great guitar phrase or a great bass line comes onto a speaker.
I started the first incarnation of the blog in 2006, as a senior at Brockton High School, MA. It was then called In My Life..., which I found very generic. I started just doing long reviews once a week, which slowly became twice a month and sometimes even just once a month. In 2007, I changed it to Vintage Clothes, after the song on McCartney's Memory Almost Full LP. However, I soon discovered that people who Googled "vintage clothes" would probably get them to my site...and I'm not writing about clothes.
I started the "Album of the Day" idea in the summer of 2008 and have been doing it ever since, getting up to #139 as of this writing.
Recently, I changed it to Journey Through Dark Heat, taken from "Where Are You Tonight? (Journey Through Dark Heat)", the closer on Dylan's Street-Legal....and that's where I am today!

I've pretty much taken full advantage of all the ways people can get in touch with each other through the internet.
I'm on Facebook and Twitter, both great ways to get in touch with me.
If you prefer the old, ancient form of technology called "e-mail", please send comments to my GMail account, danhofstra@gmail.com.
Also, I actually have a YouTube account, here.
